Hallo Fempreneurs!
Welcome to yet another edition of Fempreneurs Magazine. What an exciting edition it’s been to put together! We met so many new business associates it’s unbelievable. The events industry in Zimbabwe is vibrant and so colourful!
The standards in this industry have grown tremendously over the last 20 years. I first came across the events industry in 2002 when my Sister-in-Law Sandra Mutambanengwe started a business hitherto unknown to us. She called herself a Wedding Planner. She did this after having planned and managed her own wedding in 2001 and discovering how stressful planning a wedding was, and how there weren’t many people offering a good wedding planning service.
The industry has grown from that time when invitations were on card and now technology has taken over with social media and websites running publicity shows for pending weddings, wedding albums are now largely electronic with only a few printed pictures. Drones have altered the photography scene and now there are lobola ceremonies where décor and outside catering are actually used. We now have midweek breakfast weddings!! Anyways, let’s get back to the subject.
What do we have in this month’s edition? The Fempreneur of the Month Hope Makwara, a renowned events venue owner and property developer shares how she built her business over the years. Our pretty Bridepreneur, Blessing Mutyasira shares what it’s like to experience the beautiful threefold blessing of love, marriage and carrying a child while trying to build a business. Our savings story is inspired by Shamiso Severa, a successful event planner who tells us never to give up on our financial goals. The Kidpreneur of the Month young Vicky Zvavamwe who is a budding baker. She makes cupcakes and sells them and earns a tidy bit of pocket money for herself. So event planners wanting a cute baker to go with their package… she’s your girl.
There’s inspiration galore, agronomy, parenting tips, top venues and honeymoon destinations in Zimbabwe and so much more. Please enjoy our Events and Weddings special edition of Fempreneurs Magazine!
Much Love,
Pearl Mbazima
